Brush Alumni Association 2012 Scholarships

On May 16, 2012, in the Brush High auditorium, a dessert was held for the annual Senior Scholarship awards. Proud seniors who held a GPA of 3.0+ and their parents/families enjoyed this special evening, as they were lauded for their four years of diligent study. However, the best “treats” served were in the form of monetary scholarships, given to many worthy seniors.

The Brush Alumni Association was proud to be a part of this celebration, administrating sixteen scholarships, which, this year, totaled over $21,250! The first scholarship given by the association was in 1993, when Mr. and Mrs. Alan Skinner and Mr. and Mrs. Don Lamberton (1947 Classmates) established The John Jacque Memorial Scholarship. (Since that time, the Alumni Association has given away over $130,000 to deserving Brush seniors.) This year, the $1000 scholarship was awarded to Laura Milstein. Other recipients were:

Daniel Loya - $1000 Bill Kingzett Scholarship

La’Chen Parks - $750 Raymond R. Doehring Scholarship

Emily Anderson - $500 Temple Thorp Koehne Nursing Scholarship

Anthony DiPaolo - $1000 Thomas Murnick Scholarship

Emily Cuff -$5000 Neil Mahrer Scholarship

Tatyana Shapiro - $1000 Diane Benjamin Jones Scholarship

Kim Zemal - $1500 Junie Speed Davis Blackmore Scholarship

Aya Kozono - $1500 Junie Speed Davis Blackmore Scholarship

Kelly Whittke - $1500 Junie Speed Davis Blackmore Scholarship

Hannah Bloomberg - $1500 Junie Speed Davis Blackmore Scholarship

Seth Adams - $1000 I CAN Scholarship

Angela Grano - $1000 Class of 1984 Scholarship

Abbey Fox
- $1000 Spike Meredith Scholarship

Theodore Eisenberg - $1000 Spike Meredith Scholarship

Jessica Sweeney - $1000 Brush Alumni Scholarship for Teacher Education

Since 1993, the Alumni Association has proudly award over $130,000 in scholarships. Presenters at the dessert included: Linda (Meredith) Makee (Alumni President) and Jim Makee (Alumni Trustee and Scholarship Chairman), both Class of 1960; Susan (Davis) Heisler, Class of 1962; and Marc McCann and Stan Loveman (Class of 1984).

By contributing to these scholarships, Brush alums have not only given to these young alums’ futures, but also to the future of Brush High School, to the South-Euclid Lyndhurst community, to our nation, and to the future of the world! What could be more rewarding?! We thank you for your years of loyalty and caring!
